Prednisone is a medication prescribed to treat a number of different things, including various blood disorders, breathing problems, eye problems, certain skin diseases, and immune system disorders. This drug belongs to the corticosteroids class of drugs and works to decrease the immune system’s response to different diseases in order to reduce symptoms, some of which include swelling and allergic-type reactions. This medication is taken by mouth, preferably with food in order to prevent stomach upset, and a full glass of water.
